Hand woven 100% cotton Girasol baby wraps are produced in Guatemala with traditional methods of the Maya Indians. Girasol baby wraps are wonderfully soft and adaptive. The weave type is supportive and it makes babywearing a pleasant experience. Of all the baby carriers on the market, the traditional baby wrap is the most versatile: you can use it with a newborn and up to toddler years. You can wrap the baby in dozens of different ways and it's possible to find a suitable carry to different situations. The baby wrap also fits to parents of all sizes.
When carrying with a baby wrap, the weight of the child will distribute widely over ones upper body and the single muscles are not strained too much. The right size of the baby wrap depends on the carries that you want to use and your size. We will happily help you to pick the right size for you, if you find it difficult!
Our Girasol design collection consists of several beautiful colors that are made exclusively for Wearababy. We aim to keep the most popular designs available at all times but some sizes may run out before the next batch arrives. Some colors are limited edition (LE) and only one batch is made. We ship Girasol baby wraps all over the world!
Hand woven Girasol wraps are produced in Guatemala with traditional methods of the Maya Indians. Baby wraps are made of pure cotton and no chemical pretreatment is used. The threads are dyed with harmless colorants.
Girasol baby wraps are produced with diagonal weaving technique, which gives the fabric elasticity. Most wraps feel soft and comfortable as new, too.
There are five standard sizes available: 2,6m; 3,6m; 4,2m; 4,6m and 5,2m. In some colors we have also size 6,0m available occasionally. If you have difficulties with deciding between two sizes, we recommend that you take the longer one. This way the wrap won't become too short for you after washing and shrinking.
Because of the handweaving technique the wraps can contain small knots, short pieces of yarn sticking out of the fabric or small yarn pulls and loops. Some Girasol wraps can even contain a broken thread or two. The weaving density of some Girasols can be somewhat uneven. This phenomenon stands out mostly with such designs that have an intensive weft color for example Earthy Rainbow and Jungle (red weft). On the other hand the very same intense color makes the colours of these wraps so unique.
Girasol baby wraps can be washed in 40 or 60 °C and you may iron it, too. If a new wrap feels a bit stiff, washing, tumble drying and ironing will make it softer. Please note that washing the wrap in hot water and tumble drying can make it shrink more.
We have also second quality wraps available occasionally. These wraps have some small weaving faults - for example several broken threads or longer than 2 cm loops - which do not affect the safety or comfort of the wrap. We grant a 10 % discount for seconds and 20% discount for customer returns. Please ask for more information!
